During the Northern Song Dynasty, there was a skilled archer. One day he drew a big crowd while he was practicing on the drill ground. Global citizenship, from my point of view, is a kind of responsibility, a way of behaving, under the tide of globalization.
Since China has been a member of WTO for 6 years, great changes have taken place around us. It’s no wonder that global citizenship deeply affected contemporary Chinese people. As far as the globalization is concerned, we’ll easily find that all the citizens around the world are in the same huge family-----the earth. We care about each other, we learn from each other, we work and have fun together. Just like the slogan of the 29th Olympic Games being held in Beijing says:” One world, one dream.”
Nowadays, we can keep ourselves informed just stay at home because of a variety of media. More and more corporations join together to develop advanced products. We begin to notice the significance of cooperation and gradually realized that we are global citizens whether we are young or old, male or female, rich or poor.
However, at the same time, in order to globalize, we expense so much that we are losing something traditional. Therefore, I believe it’s of great urgency to think globally and act locally.

first of all, let me take this chance to present to you a set of data that i hope won't bore you since the source is china daily.
china's tourism revenue last year reached 500 billion rmb, an increase of 10.5 percent from the year before, and comprised more than 5% of china's gdp. according to experts, this number will grow to 8% in the coming ten years and more than 40 million jobs will be created.
as a student majoring in economics, i can't be more sensitive to the essential meanings behind these numbers. they mean progress, prosperity, employment and stability.
however, as a conscientious chinese and citizen of the world, i can't help but care more about the losses incurred in this transaction, by which i mean the disturbing images of environmental destruction, which leads to ecological crisis. the global environment has changed for the worse during the past few years, and tourism is partly to blame. take china for example, in order to attract tourists, many unknown places are built into resorts. forests are cleared, prairies trampled, rivers and lakes 6)contaminated, wild animals are driven away, plants jeopardized and secluded populations disturbed.
if this seems too remote and abstract, my own traveling experience may speak louder here. last year i took a tour around emei mountain in sichuan province. like most tourists, i was eager to embrace nature and enjoy its beauty. however, as soon as i got on the bus, the stench of gasoline and the noise of the engine tainted my appreciation of the wonderful scenery and the tranquility of the country road. when we finally arrived, what i saw was not a beautiful landscape but crowds of people; what i heard was not the melodious singing of birds, but yelling and bargaining from the gift shops; what i smelled was not the fresh mountain air, but stinking suffocating smoke coming out of small dirty restaurants. moreover, i could not understand why the lovely monkeys living there had to take photos with tourists all day; why the beautiful butterflies and flowers had become lifeless samples in shop windows; why the strongest impressions i had was trash scattered everywhere on the ground.
however, this is not the end of the story. before i left emei, i met a group of kids in an ecotourism program with the slogan: “experiencing, learning and protecting.” when i saw their young hands picking up trash from the ground, when i felt their enjoyment and harmonious relationship with the animals, when i found their purest eyes filled with passion and love for nature, i realized to my great satisfaction that there doesn't have to be a tradeoff between tourism and ecology, because deep within us is an inclination toward natural beauty and a desire to protect it. yes, environmental problems will eventually ease with the advancement of science and technology and improvement of our management system. however, an increase of ecological education and hands-on environmental involvement of our fellow citizens will do even better. to realize this, the best way for us lies in tourism itself because nothing other than nature can teach us how to love and cherish our sweetest home. at the end of my speech, please let me quote bob dylan:

Thank you. Apple's grown like a weed, and as you know, we've always been in Cupertino. Started in an office par, eventually, got the buildings, we are in now the corner of the ends of 280.and those buildings hold maybe 2600 or 2800 people. But we've got almost 12,000 people in the area. So we're renting buildings - not very good buildings, either at an ever-greater radius from our campus and we're putting people in those. It is clear that we need to build new campus, so we just add space.

And he did, but in addition to that he gave me something way more important.

And the campus we like to build there is one building holds 12,000 people. And it is pretty amazing building. Let me show it to you. It's a little like a spaceship landed, there it is, and it's got this gorgeous courtyard in the middle, but a lot more. So let's take a close look at it. It's a circle.

It's curved all the way around. If you build things, this is not the cheapest way to build something. There is not a straight piece of glass in this building. It's all curved. We've used our experience making retail buildings all over the world now, and we know how to make the biggest pieces of glass in the world for architectural use. We can make it curve all the way around the building. And you can see what it look like. It is pretty cool.

Again, today, about 20% of the space is landscaping, several big asphalt parking lots. So 20% of this is landscape, we want to completely change this. And we want to make 80% of landscape, and the way we're gonna do this is we're gonna put most of the parking underground. So we can have 80% of landscape, and you can see what we've in mind. I mean there is nothing like this in the property now. It's pretty bad. Today there are 3700 trees on the property we'd like to just almost double that. We've hired one of the senior arborists from Stanford actually who is very good with indigenous trees around this area. So we'd like to plant a lot of trees including some apricot orchards. Again you can see what it might be like. This is some of the infrastructure. The main building, we have parking underneath the main building.

That's not enough unfortunately. We have a parking structure here as well. The building's four stories high as is the parking structure. There's nothing high here at all. We want the whole place human scale. It's actually about the same as we have in Cupertino right now.. An energy center. We deal with - people using, sitting at computers all day writing software. And if the power goes out on the grid we get to send everybody home. So we have to have backup power to power the place in the event brownouts and stuff. And I think what we're gonna end up doing is making the energy center our primary source of power. Because we can generate power with Natural Gas and other ways that can be cleaner and cheaper and use the grid as our backup.

We've got an auditorium because we put on presentations. Much like we did yesterday but we have to go to San Francisco to do them. the ideal teacher may be young or old, tall or short, fat or thin. he should know his subject, but he can make mistakes if he is willing to learn. his personality is as important as his scholarship. the ideal teacher must be enthusiastic. he must never teach anything he himself is not interested in. he should be a bit of anactor and he should not be afraid t express his feelings and express his likes and dislikes. he must like his students and respect them. but he must also respect himself and take pride in his work.
otherwise, he cannot respect his students and win respect from them. the ideal teacher should have an understanding of his students and be able tp relate to them. he needs students’ understanding, too. the ideal teacher should be kind, encouraging, and helpful and he should motivate his students to seek knowledge. the ideal teacher should see his students as individuals and acknowledge their differences. he must know how to encourage the self-development and growth of each of his students. the ideal teacher is one who grows, learns, and improves himself along with his students.
so what about the teachers around you?

Everyone have a dream, and is very good, I am no exception. I have a little dream, when I succeed at the goal, to accomplish more dreams. Beginning, I was a baby, a thought become very strong, like the children in the shaolin temple, martial arts high strength. But I think to leave my parents to far away places to practice martial arts, hard work, a little loathe to give up. During my childhood, I have a dream, I hope I have the money. Adults asked: "little girl, with money you are going to do?" "I'm going to buy bubble gum" "if you have a lot of money?" "I'm going to buy a lot of bubble gum" "if you have money to burn?" "I'll do buy bubblegum factory." Innocent childhood we, indeed, have a kind heart, happiness and happiness is a the same piece of music.
Slowly into the primary school, courses more and more deep, knowledge more and more... Will feel the pressure. Now I have a dream. I hope I don't have a lot of homework to do every day. Play a little deprived, and 40% of the day we imprisoned in the classroom, a lot of time in learning. But in the face of learning, is a kind of fuzzy knowledge. Good morning everybody, i’m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. we all know that bingxin has a famous saying “we always admire the beauty of flowers but its sprout was watered by tears of struggle and rained by blood of sacrifice”. so for the majority, behind their success, are filled of sweat and tears.
Eagle flying in the vast firmament, must be experienced the pain of countless times fall under the cliff, then hammered out a pair of volley wings. a shinning of pearls, inevitably suffered countless body friction and numerous waves’ shock. in this view, a real successful people, and he must experienced numerous times to stand up again and agin after failed, because without sweat and tears on the life road ,no one can casually get the beautiful flowers.
