As a child I often accompanied my father to his small coin shop and spenthours watching him work. When I was older, I sometimes set up displays, waitedon customers, and even balanced the books. This experience instilled in me thedesire to own and manage my own business someday, yet I understand that thebusiness world today is more complex. To live a meaningful life everyday; to continually pursue my predetermined worthwhile goals. -My view of life.
Could I put myself in the life-threatening working environment? Could I sacrifice my life for the benefits of others? Some people may laugh at my crazy question. To me, that is a serious question I have come a long way to find my answer. “I am not sure whether it is worth to answer”; “What is the true meaning of that question?”
When I was a young child, I watched a soap opera that was about court. I was deeply impressed by the judge’s calmness and the lawyer’s eloquence and resource that were showed in this opera. From then on, I hoped to study law some day. Fortunately, I performed well in entrance examination and got enrolled into __ University. Then I chose law as my major without hesitation. At university, I studied hard and got GPA 3.4. What’s more, I broadly read all kinds of books, including philosophy, history etc. My teachers’ instruction strengthened my understanding of law and makes me understand the significance of law to a country. From my studies, I had a lot of fun and got more interested in law. Moreover, I actively participated in practice in holidays from common company to law firm and tried to apply the theory I had learned into practice.
This summer, I had my internship in counselor department in __x Group Co Ltd which was involved in a business contract dispute, which was submitted to China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission for arbitration. As a representative of the requested applicant, I took part in the evidence collection in the early arbitration stage and clearly explained why the 5% balance of goods was not paid on time. After knowing the whole case, I visited my teacher, an Arbitration Law professor, and listened to her opinions. Realizing the counterpart didn’t completely implement their contract duty, I gave reasons as follows: First, the counterpart company didn’t mention bearing issue, which caused that the delivered machines couldn’t be put into the plant because of the disqualification of workshop. Thus overhaul was necessary, which delayed production and resulted loss. Based on these reasons, the counterpart didn’t completely carry out its duty, so our party did not pay the balance on time. During this time, I found out the evidence and pictures that attested counterpart did not give reasonable suggestion and service, and made a statement in the court. Finally, the arbitration turned out that counterpart compensated our loss, in which the arbiters invoked the reasons that I stated. They had a panel made up of 3 lawyers and 5 company representatives as agents while we just had 3 persons—two lawyers and me. Under such condition, I was able to cooperate with them and clearly stated my opinions without any nervousness, which got their respect. This matter greatly inspired my enthusiasm on study.
In addition, I took part in the contact draft in several companies. In the process, when I met a lot of problems, I often turned to my teachers for help, which made good impression on them. As I cherished each practice, I studied my specialty and English hard. With effective study method and diligence, I did well both in English and law, which helped me a lot to get scholarship every year. On the other hand, my practice inspired me to study. In practice, I exercised my legal knowledge. I also realize the big gap between theory and its application—sometimes I have master the rules but I didn’t know how to use it in actual case. For nearly one year, when all other colleagues had gone back home after work or to the bars for relaxation, I kept myself busy with the designing, programming, and refactoring work. When I got home every day after ten o’clock in the night, I would read papers of and continue for seeking the universities and professors attractive to me until one o’clock in the morning. My sense of responsibility for the company made me obliged to finish all the projects in my hands before I leave for America. And my yearning for the free American environment which is easy to inspire researchers’ potential made me willing to live such hard life under much greater pressure.
Although over two years’ software development work in Beijing Grandsoft Technology Co., Ltd has already helped me accumulate considerable experience in software programming and designing and make some achievements admirable in others’ eyes, I, who will be promoted as a senior development engineer, know clearly that only the program in your department can fully exert my strength and make my pursuit come true.
I know that I belong to the kind of people who are able to better realize the life values and meaningfulness while doing certain interesting things, who enjoy challenges and thinking and who are always in pursuit of creative ideas. thinking; I could solve the problem of difficulties in managing the patch files by putting the client patch files on the server for Auto update, improving the clients’ satisfaction greatly. What’s more, I am very strict with myself and always keep a heart for excellence. I successfully became a formal employee in advance during the probation period. And I gained the Intermediate Engineer position in only one year which normally took three years by others. At the same time, my strong sense of responsibility helped me never disappoint my supervisors and colleagues even when it was necessary to work overtime continuously or all night.
Besides, I can even get enlightened when facing failures. My experience in taking charge of the GCM—Grandsoft Cost Management project can be cited here as an example. In this project, we adopted C/S structure using COM+/Web Service as the communication method, and SQL Server 20xx as the database. Although the SQL was optimized and different DB engines and components were tried, the querying efficiency was not improved obviously when dealing with mass data and complex business logics. However, I learned in the course how to improve the efficiency of database query for huge amount of data, how to conduct efficiency test and experiment and how to use the simplest query to realize the huge business logics. In trial use of the Qlikview software of a professional data query company, although I was not able to solve the problem, I learned the BI thoughts to cache data into the memory to improve the application efficiency.
However, though I have laid a solid foundation in my years of studies in Tsinghua University and my self-studies during the work, though I have improved my ability in practice and problem-solving, I still lack in theories which can be seen from the above examples. Only practice is not enough to solve problems completely. The importance of theories can be also seen in my adjusting the tree traversing algorithm. I improved the GCM product’s tree building efficiency by dozens of times after I analyzed the general law of data distribution. Therefore, I am more determined to continue my further education abroad.
Having gone through the thinking during the learning-working-learning process, I believe that I’ve already found what I need. The program will be the most meaningful place for me in my life. The next ten years of concentrative research coupled with my determination to accept new challenges will enable me to become a paving stone on the road of CS development.

个人自述的形式和内容同样重要
我们对写作的方式十分感兴趣，申请人如何讲述非常重要——用清晰、准确的方式表达思想。在一所充斥着高素质候选人的学校里，决策的依据并非是数据和公式。个人自述帮助招生办做出理性的、但最终还是主观的判断。如果一所学校接一所学校地咨询，你就会发现个人自述的重要性越来越大。
是否具有对其职业的综合反思能力
在一篇个人自述中，我们要求申请人将他们的过去和未来有机地结合起来。我们把这种自传叫作“职业目标”自传。它为我们提供了确凿的信息，同时也可以确定申请人是否具有对自己及其职业的综合性反思能力。通常的情况是，即使是那些按照传统标准最聪明的人也做不到这一点。
我们第二篇个人自述是关于学习目标的，让申请人陈述他们想进耶鲁的理由。他或她想在这里学些什么如何做到学以致用。
避免三个极端的非此即彼的常见问题
(1)避免不实吹捧以及“英国式低调”
个人自述中最常见的错误就是把简历或个人历史重述一遍，没有反思、评价和自我批评。另一个错误就是写的都是“招生办的人想听的事情”，结果经常让人感到做作和矫情。

建议不要把草稿寄过来。文章写完后要再看两遍。尽量做到清楚、准确，但也不要因为篇幅的限制妨碍文章的完整。在整体和简洁之间可以做到令人愉快的折衷。但是，大多数的自传都太长了，换句话说，过长的文章要多于过短的。
最好的办法就是尽可能全面、诚实地回答学校的问题。让招生办的人自己去做有关录取的决定。不要想着搞什么心理战，或者企图替别人做决定。有些申请人自认为知道学校的想法，把自己装扮成某种类型，这样做会使我们失去了一个了解你的个性和思想的机会。
(3)坦白具有风险，不必掩饰对未来的不确定性
再说一遍，要诚实。诚实和坦白是优秀个人自述的标准，就像在工作和生活中一样，虽然这样做也有一点风险。有些申请人认为那些被录取的人都非常清楚在今后40年要做些什么。事实上，在这一时期，你对未来的想法还是一片迷茫。你可能要进入一个重新反省的阶段，感觉像是经历了一次重新组合、人生翻到了下一页、生活的方向也在改变。但是你并不清楚要走哪条路。如果你确实如此，那么就照实说；我们非常理解，即使是一些好学生，未来的管理界领袖也都经历过这种“阶段”。诚实地表示出你对未来的不确定要比装作什么都知道好得多。

I am interested in the field of study of Organizational Behavior. In thepast， I have had the experience of working in settings where the people and thecorporate cultures of the companies were all different. I have found that thereis a great difference in the both the behaviors of people and of theirorganizations， depending on whether they are state-owned enterprises (SOEs)，large multinational firms， or small to medium sized foreign enterprises. Onesimple example is that of the ability of an employee to act independentlywithout direct instructions from his or her boss. In many Chinese organizations，acting without direct instructions is considered a form of disrespect towardsthe supervisor， who is generally offended by such behavior. In my experience andresearch， such organizations tend to have low operating efficiency with theemployees losing their innate ability to take the initiative.
In contrast， foreign enterprises tend to welcome employees who have theability to make decisions on their own， though the extent to which this is truedepends on whether the supervisor is a local Chinese or an expatriate.

I am applying for admission to the Ph.D. program in Electrical and ComputerEngineering， at the University of California， Berkeley. I present my researchexperience and study objectives in this statement of purpose. I would like tobuild on my solid education and experience as an engineer for a Ph. D. degree incomputer science at a distinguished university. I wish in particular to betrained at an advanced level in software systems， database systems， applied-AIand knowledge-based systems. My father is a chartered accountant and my mother is a banker. During mydays at Engineering College I used to go to my father's office and help himmanage his portfolio of equities and other financial instruments. This was thetime I learnt the first lesson of finance from my father i.e. risk and returnare proportionate. In 1998 when I was in the second year the China stock marketcrashed. But fortunately， my father had a well-diversified portfolio because ofwhich our returns were protected from the downside risk. This was when I learntthe second principle of finance from my father i.e. diversification reducesrisk. While I understood these two principles intuitively， it produced in me astrong urge to learn and understand the complex theory behind the working ofFinance. This， I believe， was a turning point in my career. I made up my mind topursue a career in Finance and hence decided to do a Masters program in BusinessAdministration.
As I was finishing college， my mother had both of her hips replaced withartificial ones because all of the cartilage in her hip joints had worn away andit was very painful for her to walk. I found it fascinating that engineers，orthopedic surgeons， and biologists had all worked together to design theseartificial joints that completely transform. people's lives by giving them backpain-free mobility， and I knew at that moment that this was an area about whichI wanted to learn more. In China these days， university graduates who have notbeen lucky enough to settle into their dream jobs often look to graduatedstudies as a way to kill the time that they cannot otherwise spend meaningfully.I am prepared to go against the social conventions by putting on hold asuccessful research career that promised to be even more successful. "All I know about leadership I learned from..." What items could a personuse to describe leadership qualities?
Inspired by the student council advisors at my high school.
Student council was a big part of my life in high school. I haveparticipated in it since my frst year of high school. When I frst joined, I wasquiet, na?ve, and unwilling to participate in many activities. I was scared tomeet new people and afraid to apply myself. This all began to change. Half waythrough my frst year in student council, one of the advisors can up to me andasked why I did not participate that much. I did not have an answer for her anddid not know how to respond. I realized I loved this and wanted to start leading these activities. What could I learn from comparing leadership to a stuffed animal or arubber chicken? But when I sat down to come up with a couple of answers, Irealized that leadership could be compared to almost anything a personwants.
All I know about leadership I learned from a calculator. A calculator canadd everything together to come up with the best answer. It can delet e what isunnecessary and only include what is important. It can solve any type ofproblem. These are all important equalities a leader has to have. A leader hasto be able to add all of the ideas together to make the best possible plan.Leaders have to know how to decipher the good and the bad out of an idea. Theyhave to be versatile and know how to deal with different types of issues.
All I know about leadership I learned from a ball. A ball is able to bounceback up after it is dropped. It is round and has no creases. A ball can bethrown back and forth to different people. All of these qualities are alsoleadership qualities. A leader has to be ready for every situation that isthrown at him or her. He or she has to be able to bounce back from any setbacksand never dwell on the past. Leaders have to exhibit many qualities and never beclosed-minded about a situation. A leader must be able to delegate when he orshe cannot get the work done. They have to trust everyone they lead to be ableto "catch the ball" and keep a project rolling.
This activity made me realize that being a leader is so much more than justhaving authority and having the ability to take control of a situation. A leaderhas to be trusting of all the people he or she leads and, leaders must be ableto combine ideas into one encompassing idea. They cannot sit in the backgroundand watch events happen; they have to jump in and be involved. They should notdelegate all their responsibilities away.
Leadership is more than what the dictionary says it is.
I learned through all of this that I have many of these qualities.
I have the ability to solve problems, lead through adversity, and beversatile. From answering this question, I realized that I could leadeffectively, even if my leadership style is different from other individuals.When I joined student council in my frst year of high school, I did not havethese qualities because I was never put into a situation where I had to lead. Iwas too reserved to try. When I tried, I learned that I could succeed in this. Idid not realize until I answered this question about leadership. I was neverable to see that being a leader is not just about taking control of a group andtelling everyone what to When I was a freshman, I thoughtleadership was this. I did not know that did not have to be forceful and strict.I stereotyped a leader then. Thisis where I went wrong. A leader is about beingyourself and never letting anyone change you. 我每天上学都要经过西电，校园里树木很多，我经常能闻到绿树青草的香味，而一旁古朴的教学楼更让这个校园显得优雅，久而久之我也就对这所伫立在闹事之中却能保持它原有气息的高校产生了浓厚的兴趣。后来，我开始查看有关电子科技大学的资料。
我渐渐了解了关于这所高校的历史沿革、办学理念和学科设置等一系列情况。我知道了电子科技大学是以信息与电子学科为主，工、理、管、文多学科协调发展的全国重点大学，是国家“211工程”立项建设的重点高校之一。而且学校汇聚了一支政治素质优良、学术水平高、结构合理的教师队伍。最让我感到兴奋的是“神五”、“神六”飞船副总设计师杨宏等一大批IT行业领军人物和技术骨干原来都是电子科技大学培养出来的。
看到这些，我情不自禁地笑了起来，与其说是为陕西有如此好的高校而高兴，还不如说是为自己找到了目标而高兴。特别是西电的通信工程专业吸引了我，对宇宙飞船和神秘的外太空充满好奇的我，希望自己也能像杨宏老师那样为航天事业做出贡献。
的确，从那时起我就决定不管结果怎样，都要以电子科技大学为目标奋斗。
我深知确定了目标就要为之而努力，否则一切都是徒劳的，但我有时也会对大学的生活充满想象：我想象着与大学里的同学一起生活的那种快乐;想象着与教授们一起探讨问题时的那种学习氛围;想象着丰富多彩的社会实践活动……而现在，为了我的目标和我所幻想的一切美好我必须更加刻苦地学习。
但在众多的优秀学生之间，我常常会感到力不从心，甚至是自卑，这是我的一大缺点。但在成长的过程中我一直在努力克服它，并且我也认识到唯有踏踏实实、勤奋拼搏才是通向成功的路。
我现在就在这条路上走着，虽然辛苦但我甘之若饴。我相信既然我有缘每天与_擦肩而过，我就会在不远的一天怀抱感恩的心骄傲地踏进那扇我向往已久的大门。
美国留学材料
1、SAT/ACT考试成绩(申请本科需要)
如果你在美国读高中，SAT是一定要考的;如果你在国内读高中，申请美国本科时，排名前60位的大学基本都对此有要求。所以，对于绝大多数申请美国留学的学生来说，这一考试都是绕不开的。
绝大多数美国大学，递交SAT成绩或ACT成绩都是可以的，但从名校申请的统计数据表明，提交SAT的申请者几乎是ACT的两倍，更多人还是选择SAT。
SAT考试分为SAT1和SAT2，SAT1俗称美国高考，是一个考察学生学习能力的考试。SAT2是学科的测试，其实就是专业课考试，给大学呈现学生在专门领域水平。SAT2大部分学校是不需提交的。国内学生主要考SAT1，是否需要考SAT2取决于申请学校的要求。
SAT和ACT都有多次考试机会，大家一定要尽力给自己一个好成绩哦。
成绩单直接通过官方的机构寄送即可。
2、GRE/GMAT考试成绩(申请研究生需要)
GRE的中文名称是美国研究生入学考试，适用于除法律与商业外的各专业。GMAT的中文名称是研究生管理科学入学考试，适用于商科学生。你具体要参加什么考试、需要考多少分，由你要申请的学校和专业决定。
3、英语考试成绩
根据学校要求，你需要考托福或雅思，绝大多数申请美国学校的学生都是考托福。成绩单直接通过官方的机构寄送即可。
4、成绩单
申请美国本科，需要递交9~12年级的成绩单，也就是初三到高三(申请时未毕业的同学不必打印高三的)，别落了初三!申请美国研究生，需要递交大一到大四的成绩单(未毕业同学不必打印大四的)。
学校如果有自己的模版，用学校的模版即可，如果学校没有模版，就用学校抬头纸打印成绩单，落款盖公章，封入学校官方信封，两边封口处加盖学校公章。
成绩单需要译成英文，可以分开两页纸，也可以中英对照。
成绩单的数量最好比申请的学校数量多3~5份，以备不时之需。
成绩单上最好将自己的百分成绩换算成GPA，并显示自己在班级所排名次。
美国有的学校要求成绩单从学校寄出，大家要注意申请学校是否有要求。如果没有，把成绩单和其它材料一并寄出即可。
留学申请写作内容
1.评价你的一个重要经历﹑成就﹑风险决定﹑或者你曾面对的两难选择的经历，并评价对你造成的影响。
2.讨论某个个人的﹑地区性的﹑国家性的﹑或国际性的关注话题以及对你的重要性。
3.说明一个对你有重要影响的人并描述对你的影响。
4.描述一个影响你的人并说明对你的影响，该人物可以是小说中的﹑历史中的﹑或者某创新性作品(比如在艺术﹑音乐﹑科学等方面)中的。
5.(可以叙述)一系列诸如学术兴趣﹑个人前途﹑生活经历等能够显著增添教育多样性的事情。结合你个人的背景，描述一个可以说明你将会给大学社区的多元化带来何种贡献的经历，或者一个表明多元化对你有重要意义的经历。
6.(如果以上题目没有合适的题材)请自行选择一个题目。
此外，common学校除了以上文书要求外，还会有supplement文书内容，例如斯坦福大学在13年申请补充文书部分要求三篇，每篇小文章至少250字，不超过提供的空间。
其中一篇有关于在人生智力发展方面，哪些思想或经历对智力具有影响的事。还有一篇是写描述自己给未来室友，让学校对你有进一步的认识。另外还有一篇是写发生在你身上的一件事，并阐述原因。
